About Lexelerator - Providing Legal Information for e-Business
Lexelerator's goal is to support SMEs, SME clusters and digital ecosystems in e-business to get acquainted with legal issues affecting e-business. For this purpose, information tools such as the legal Wiki are created and the users are provided with interactive on-line tools for sharing of experience and knowledge, such as forums and blogs. Lexelerator results from the LEKTOR project, a specific support action of FP6, funded by the European Commission. Details about the project itself can be found at: www.ubique.org/lektor
PLATFORM GOVERNANCE
General
Lexelerator content is written collaboratively by project partners, contributors and users without geographical limits. The legal Wiki articles and the Blogs can be created and edited by the contributors, qualified registered users with specific knowledge in legal issues for e-business. Registered users can comment and tag content, and create discussion forums. In every article of the legal Wiki or the Blog, links will guide the user to associated content that usually contain additional information and add value to the original article. Anyone of the above mentioned users (contributors and registered users) is welcome to add information, cross-references or citations, as long as they do so within Lexelerator's editing policies and to an appropriate standard.
LEKTOR editing policies
Due to its main scope – to promote the knowledge and exchange of legal issues for e-business, in particular for SMEs – Lexelerator's editing policies are slightly restricted in comparison to, for example, Wikipedia. Content creators can be categorised into three groups, each with a different "activities portfolio":
Group 1: Webmaster/Administrator: Members of this group accumulate the portfolii of Group2 and 3 plus can add/edit/delete static web pages; accredit contributors; take down unrelated, unlawful or outdated content.
Group 2: Contributors: Can create legal Wiki articles or Blogs; can edit legal Wiki articles; display their profile at the contributors' page; have all the portfolio of Group3.
Group 3: Registered users: Can Comment and tag legal Wiki articles; comment and tag Blogs; create and comment fora.
Taking down/deleting content:
Lexelerator is a platform dedicated to one topic: legal issues for e-business. Thus, contributions must be related to this. Any other content will be taken down. Where there is a doubt about the lawfulness of content (e.g. up-loaded pictures or documents that might be © protected), this content will be equally taken down. Furthermore, outdated content (e.g. old or no more maintained fora) will be deleted.
Rights and obligations of contributors and users:
Lexelerator is a collaborative effort that benefits most where most users are involved. Thus, users are consumers and creators and controllers. They should display the necessary diligence that they would use in their normal business activities to keep the standard level of contributions high. However, they cannot be held responsible for any use made of their contributions (see Disclaimer).
