Legal issues for e-Tourism

e-Tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors of e-commerce. Its acceptance in a B2B and, above all, B2c context is far higher than in any other sector. However, this success attracts fraudulent behaviour that is difficult to combat.
So far the following illegal activities have been identified:
Cybersquatting and Brandjac
king (see also Cybercrime). Proliferation of internet sites using/abusing the name of  the hotel (there are even clones of official sites of the hotel) damaging the image of the hotel. It is even worse when these sites provide on-line reservation and payments rooms. When the customer turns up at the "real" hotel, there is actually no room booked or the price is very different The hotel has no control on these sites.
This sector of the Lexelerator will provide regular information on e-Tourism, its legal problems and its potential solutions.
