What is Silicon Valley?
There is no “official” definition or boundary of Silicon Valley. It is, however, generally accepted that Silicon Valley spans from San Francisco and Oakland in the North to San Jose in the South. However, others also include a “telecommunications business cluster” located North of San Francisco, over the Golden Gate bridge, and others also include quickly growing communities South of San Jose, such as Morgan Hill. The map below provides some sense of the approximately 1,500 square miles, 2.5 million people, and 30 or so cities comprising Silicon Valley.
